Abstract

1,242,615. Hydraulic presses. PACIFIC PRESS & SHEAR CORP. 24 July, 1969 [24 Jan., 1969], No. 37264/69. Heading B5F. [Also in Division B3] In a machine of the press brake type having hydraulic drive means 11, 13 pivotally connected to a ram 1 which is movable between slideways 17, slide pads 25 resiliently engage the slideways 17, and pivotal means between the ram and pads 25 permit angular movement of the ram without disturbing the sliding engagement between the pads and slideways. As shown in Figs. 1, 4 a spherical recess 37 in each pad is engaged by a spherical segment 39 adjustably spaced from a bracket 27 by a wedge 45. Compression springs 29, 31 are mounted between the pads 25 and brackets 27 on the ram. The slideways 17 are supported on four corner columns 3, 5, (7, 9) Fig. 2 (not shown), additional slideways (19) being provided on the facing sides of adjacent columns. Means are provided (Fig. 3, not shown) for maintaining the ram level. Fig. 5 (not shown) shows an alternative pivotal mounting.
