Abstract
1,242,414. 242, 414. Inductive transducers. ASSOCIATED ENG. Ltd. April 29, 1969 [May 8, 1968], No.21873/68. Heading G1N. An inductive transducer comprises a first coil 2 surrounding a core of iron wires 1 which are folded back over the outside of the coil at 1a, and a second coil 8 surrounding a core of iron wires 7 arranged around the first coil and folded back over the outside of the coil at 7a. An earthed screen 6 of ferromagnetic material is provided between the coils. Spaces 5 and 12 are filled with a resin. The radial spacing of the ends of the inner core is greater than that of the ends of the outer core. Circuit.-The coils 28 are connected in a bridge circuit, Fig.3, the output of which is detected in a synchronous detector 23 and fed to a recorder 26 or oscilloscope (not shown). The effect of the outer coil and core is to make the bridge output approximately linearly related to the distance of an armature (not shown) from the ends of the cores. The armature position may depend on temperature, vibrations, or a pressure being measured or its permeability may depend on a temperature being measured.
