Abstract

1,240,457. Pneumatic conveyers; hoppers. TRYTHALL DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT Ltd. 1 Oct., 1968 [24 Oct., 1967], No. 48322/67. Heading B8A. An apparatus for handling wet or dry powdered or granular material comprises a compressed air reservoir 16 having upper and lower ends 11, 12 interconnected by a conical material supply vessel 14, material being expelled from the vessel 14 through an opening 35 by compressed air supplied from the reservoir when a vessel filling opening 18 is closed. One or more valves 24 in the wall between the reservoir 16 and the interior of the supply vessel control air supply therebetween, the interior of the vessel 14 being provided with an annular chamber 23 to which the air is supplied from the valves, the air passing into the vessel proper through an annular slot 22. The valves .24 and the closable opening 18 are pneumatically operated in sequence so that with the opening 18 open for recharging the vessel, the valves 24 are closed for repressurization of the reservoir 16, the valves 24 being opened with closing of the opening 18. The valve sequence is controlled automatically by either sensing the level of material in the vessel 14, sensing the pressure in the air reservoir 16 or by a camtiming device. The valves 24 may alternatively be electrically operated.
