Abstract
1,138,561. Rotating drum cathode for electroforming continuous metal foil. SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO TYAZHELYKH TSVETNYKH METALLOV PRI GOSUDARSTVENNOM NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKOM INSTITUTE TSVETNYKH METALLOV. Jan. 6, 1966, No.601/66. Heading C7B. To facilitate stripping of a continuous metal foil formed by electro-deposition on a rotating drum cathode 2, each end edge of the drum has fixed to it a non-wettable dielectric ring 5, e.g. of PTFE, of greater external diameter than the drum. Preferably the rings are pressed against the edges of the drum by detachable mountings coated with a dielectric and serving as protective covers 6 for the ends of the drum and the supporting shaft. Alternatively Fig. 2 (not shown), the rings 5 are held against the drum ends by larger rings and these and the drum ends and shaft are coated with an insulating synthetic resin. In use the drum cathode rotates between anodes 3.
