Abstract

1,133,190. Securing rails to sleepers. LOCKSPIKE Ltd. 11 Oct., 1967, No. 46480/67. Addition to 1,107,076. Heading E1G. A composite insulator for insulating the base of a flange-footed rail from a fastening clip and from an anchoring member, as in the parent specification, comprises an L- section insulating (e.g. nylon) cover member 4a-5a which is snap-fitted over the edges of an L-section metal member 4-5 so as to cover the inner surfaces of the L. As shown the metal member 4-5 has longitudinal beads 6, 7 and two transverse projections 3 either side of a central portion 9 of the cover, the projections 3 cooperating with the anchoring member to prevent longitudinal movement. In a modification the metal projections 3 are replaced by projections integral with the insulating cover.
