Abstract

1,132,685. Toothed gearing. H. POST. 3 May, 1967 [4 May, 1966], No. 20514/67. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division F1] A fluid pressure rotary actuator comprises an output shaft 8 rotatably mounted in an endplate 10 closing one end of a cylinder 2, the shaft being driven by a piston 1 slidable and rotatable in the cylinder 2 in response to fluid pressure acting on one or other side thereof, the motion of the piston being transmitted to the shaft by means of externally threaded stub extensions 3 on the piston and which engage in complementary internal threads 6, 7 in an end-plate 9 closing the other end of the cylinder, and in the shaft 8. The threads 4, 15 on the stub shafts 3 are of opposite hand. A collar 12 secured by screws to the end-plate 10 provides an abutment for a flange on the shaft 8 to prevent axial movement of the shaft.
