Abstract
1,130,608. Jet looms. MACHINEFABRIEK L. TE. STRAKE, N.V. 3 Nov., 1965 [3 Nov., 1964], No. 46625/65. Heading D1E. A jet loom for inserting single wefts or "hairpins" has a picking nozzle 17 combined with a suction operated weft storage tube 4 having three separate channels 12a, 12b and 12c to accommodate long pick lengths. The tube 4 has pressure wave eliminators 14, cam operated suction valves 13 and axially movable cam operated roller 20a, 20b that selectively cover the entrance to the channels 12a to 12c. In use and during picking the yarn extends from a bobbin 7 through feed rollers 6 to a cutter and clamp 21 and is drawn into an auxiliary storage tube 8. After picking with the end held by the clamp 21 it is said that the yarn is drawn out of the tube 8 and into the tube 4 through a lateral opening 10. The rollers 6 selectively uncover the channels 13a to 13c so the yarn is successively drawn into a loop in each channel and then successively uncover the channels so that the first leg of the hairpin may be picked simultaneously with the opening of the clamp 21. During picking yarn is drawn into the tube 8 so that, after the first leg has been picked, the yarn extends from the selvedge, through the clamp 21 and into the tube 8. Suction is then again applied to draw the yarn into the tube 4. For picking the second leg of the hairpin the cutter and clamp 21 is operated to sever the yarn extending from the clamp 21 to the tube 4 so that it may be picked and to hold the yarn end extending to the bobbin 7 so that it may be drawn into the tube 8.
