Abstract

1,130,664. Escalators. ORENSTEIN-KOPPEL UND LUBECKER MASCHINENBAU A.G. 12 April, 1967 [14 April, 19661, No. 16714/67. Heading B8A. An escalator balustrade is formed by a single glass panel 3, which forms a guide for the handrail 1, and is secured to the main frame within the escalator skirting 5. In a modification (Fig. 3a), the lower run (not shown) of the handrail 1 is supported by rollers, and a fluorescent lamp 9 is positioned against the edge of the panel 3 to provide illumination. The handrail guide 2 may be integral as shown, or may be screwed to the panel 2 (Fig. 4, not shown).
