1,027,714. Driving arrangements for lifts. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU S.M. KIROW VEB. Jan. 29, 1964, No. 3800/64. Heading B8L. A lift cage 7 is connected by a cable 6, passing over pulleys 13, to a counterweight 1 which is secured to a cable 2 passing around pulleys 11, 12. The cable 2 is secured at 5 to an endless chain 4 which is driven by a driving mechanism 8. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the lift cage 7 and counterweight 1 are interchanged and the driving mechanism 8 drives the lower chain wheel 9.
