Abstract

1,129,595. Polyamides. SCHERING A.G. 2 Feb., 1966 [19 Feb., 1965], No. 4595/66. Heading C3R. The invention modifies that of the parent Specification which relates to polyamides derived from a predominantly dimeric polymeric fat acid, a mixture of ethylene diamine and a higher (C 4 -C 10 ) unbranched diamine and a C 1-5 unbranched monocarboxylic acid by using in place of the higher diamine a cycloaliphatic diamine of one of the following formulae wherein x is 0, 1, 2 or 3 and each of R 1 to R 6 is H or C 1-4 alkyl. The products are soluble in ethanol and may be used in printing inks. In examples products having softening points, amine numbers and acid numbers ranging from 109‹ to 124‹ C., 2À03 to 4À67 and 2À15 to 5À53 respectively are obtained. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 987,346.
