Abstract

1,123,524. Audio transducers. ROLEN DIVERSIFIED INVESTORS Inc. 8 March, 1967 [16 March, 1966], No. 11008/67. Heading H4J. A moving coil transducer is adapted to be mounted on a vibratile panel e.g. a wall, solely by a mounting member attached to the centre of the diaphragm. If the transducer is a loudspeaker the whole wall is caused to vibrate audibly. Audible vibrations of the wall can also be picked up by the device acting as a microphone. The transducer comprises a magnet 7 made up of various sections 8, 9, 12, 14 and forming an annular air gap 21 for the voice coil 34 which is wound round a tube 33 integral with diaphragm 22. The diaphragm which is of moulded plastics e.g. fibre-glass strengthened epoxy resin, screws at its edges into a cap or jacket 27 of plastics material which encloses the magnet members. The whole transducer can then be screwed into the wall 6 or a similar support e.g. ceiling, desk top etc., by means of the screw member 53 which is embedded in the hub 49 of the diaphragm. Annular flange 46 provides an abutting member against the wall surface.
