Abstract
A plate used in the paste-drying of leather comprises a board made of wood or a wooden composition (e.g. plywood or chipboard faced with plywood) coated with an epoxy and/or polyester resin with or without titanium oxide. The plate may be prepared by smoothing the surface of the wooden board, applying a primary resin coating, smoothing the primary coating and then applying two or more coats of epoxy or polyester resin, the plate being rubbed down between successive coats of the epoxy or polyester resin. The plates may be fitted with rollers and used in a continuous conveyer system. In use, leather is pasted on to the plate, conveyed through a heating chamber to dry it, and removed from the plate which is then washed.
