Abstract

1,119,384. Bearings. DIESELMOTORENWERK SCHONEBECK VEB. 16 Sept., 1966 [2 July, 1966], No. 29787/66. Heading F2A. A bearing cap 2 and a bearing 1 for a crankshaft, for example, are connected together by bolts which pass through bores in the cap and screw into screw-threaded bores in the bearing 1. The cap is located relatively to the bearing by means of bushes 3 which are fitted into counterbores in the bearing, the bushes 3 being received in counterbores 4 and 5 in the cap 2. The counterbore 4 has an elliptical shape to allow for radial mis-alignment due to manufacturing inaccuracies, the difference between the longest and shortest diameters of the bore 4 being equal to at least twice the sum of the maximum tolerances of the spacing of the centres of the counterbores 4 and 5. The bushes 3 may be omitted and the securing-bolts may also serve to locate the cap relatively to the bearing.
