Abstract

1,119,294. Feeding tobacco. TABAKUND INDUSTRIE MASCHINEN DRESDEN VEB. 22 March, 1966, No. 12434/66. Heading A2C. Apparatus for forming a continuous tobacco rod having dense portions at regular intervals therealong comprises a suction disc 1 having a groove 3 which is provided with depressions 4 for receiving a greater than normal amount of tobacco in the groove and a device 6 which compacts the tobacco to a uniform crosssection so that a denser portion of rod is formed at those places corresponding with the depressions 4. The tobacco is fed to the disc 1 by air through a feed pipe 2, is guided on the disc by a perforated belt 8, and is finally wrapped in a paper strip 5.
