Abstract

1,117,706. Overhead roadways. G. HUBMANN. 20 Dec., 1965 [21 Dec., 1964; 25 Oct., 1965], No. 53868/65. Heading E1G. An overhead roadway is constructed of a plurality of vertical pillars 3 of reinforced concrete joined by a plurality of contiguously juxtaposed elongated reinforced concrete beams 25. In one form of construction, the pillars 3 are formed from tubular sections spigoted together and filled with reinforced poured concrete. Precast hollow beams 5 and 6 are mounted on the pillars and similarly filled, the beams 5 being joined in the direction of the roadway by steel girders 17 which support a working staging during erection and a monorail after erection. Longitudinal concrete beams 25 are placed on the cross beams 6 to carry the roadbed 28 and have railway plates 31 concreted at their edges. The beams 25 may be of hollow section and secured transversely by tension members. The pillars and transverse beams may also be held together by tensioned cables. The working staging may be supported from the railing plates and have provision for passing the pillars 3 by the use of hinged or sliding sections. The invention may be used for overhead roadways or to provide parking areas over railway stations without disturbing the function of the underneath road or railway during erection. The beams may be lifted by members wedged into half dovetail recesses in their upper surfaces.
