Abstract
1,117,408. End attachment for steel cables. STORMBULL A.S. 6 Feb., 1967 [9 Feb., 1966], No. 5584/67. Heading D1T. An end attachment, Fig. 1, for steel cables comprises a tubular sleeve 2, a plug 6 in the sleeve, the plug 6 being formed with a plurality of apertures through which the wires 20 of the cable extend, the ends of the wires 20 being clamped on the outer surface of block 16 by a clamping ring 18 such that the wires 20 are arched outwardly. The plug 6 may be screwed into the sleeve 2, and the sleeve is filled with a high compressive strength filling material 25. In Fig. 4 the block 33 is so shaped that the clamping ring 35 need only be applied to those parts of the wires that extend beyond the block 33 to maintain the remainder of the wires in the sleeve in an outwardly arched condition. The attachment may be used in the prestressing of concrete.
