Abstract

1,115,663. Centre-boards. W. F. VONCK. 10 Feb., 1967 [1 March, 1966], No. 8963/66. Heading B7V. A yacht has a centre-board 5 which is slidable upwards and downwards in a slot 6 in the hull by a lifting and lowering device, the clearance around the centre-board in the slot being sealed by a resilient gasket 8 which is fixed to the hull and presses against the centre-board, and fixing devices are provided for securing the centreboard in its lowered position with flanges (18), Fig. 3 (not shown), which are fixed one to each side on the top of the centre-board, projecting laterally above the gasket. In the embodiment described, flanges (18) each consist of an assembly of two steel plates 19 and 20 stiffened by ribs and welded to each of the steel strips 16 fixed to the top of the aluminium centre-board by a series of through bolts and nuts 17.
