Abstract

1,114,039. Valves. PET FOODS Ltd. 2 Dec., 1966, No. 54041/66. Heading F2V. A dispensing valve for a machine for filling tins with food products comprises a rotary cylindrical or conical plug 27 having a through passage 30 which can connect inlet 21 with outlet 24 or return port (25) leading to passageway 26, the plug being provided externally with cutting blades 34 on opposite sides of the radial outlet of passage 30. These blades sever any material that might be trapped when the plug closes the outlet 24 or return port (25). The blades are spring-biased outwardly into contact with steel liner 23 or are adjustably secured in the plug by screws 35, 36. In the embodiment of Figs. 3-5 (not shown) the plug (57) has two through passages (58, 59), one for connecting the bowl (51) to the space beneath piston (52) and the other for connecting the latter space to a tin. Each passage is equipped with cutting blades.
