Abstract

111,408. Turner, M. March 13, 1917. Mechanical toys.-Wheels for toys have the spokes 1 and hub formed of a single piece stamped out of a flat plate or disk of vulcanized fibre or similar material, and the rim 5 formed by two or more convolutions of a strip of vulcanized fibre. The tapered ends of the strip are secured to the adjacent convolution by means of tacks, with or without adhesive material inserted between the layers. The outer ends of the spokes 1 are pierced at 2 to receive tacks &c. for securing to the rim 5, and are scored at 3 to facilitate assemblage. A central hole to receive a brass bush 4 is provided, and the complete wheel may be coated with a material having a decorative effect. Fig. 3 shows a wheel with two sets of dished spokes.
