Abstract

181,135. Spence, W. L. March 15,1921. Disc sheets.-A uniformly thin disc C forming the wheel body is reinforced by a hub flange having a tapered edge extending materially beyond the circle of the fixing-bolts E. The outer face of the disc may be similarly reinforced, as by a tapered flange D formed on the hub-cap. The lower half of the Figure shows the corresponding parts A' - - D' applied to a driving-wheel in which a brake-drum F is secured between the flange A<1> and the disc. As shown, the inner edge of the disc may be dished &c. as at G to provide an enlarged hub seating.
