Abstract

Fungicidal compositions comprise a solid diluent, or a liquid diluent containing a surface-active agent, and either (a) an isothiazolothione of formula: <FORM:1113634/A5-A6/1> wherein R1 and R2 which can be the same or different, are hydrogen atoms, alkyl groups, aryl groups or groups which together with their adjacent carbon atoms constitute a ring and R3 is an aliphatic, aromatic, heterocyclic or hydroxy group, or (b) an isomeric form of such an isothiazolothione in which the configuration. <FORM:1113634/A5-A6/2> is replaced by the configuration. <FORM:1113634/A5-A6/3> The isothiazolothiones include reaction products of isothiazolothione oximes, that is to say isothiazolothiones wherein R3 is a hydroxy group which has been brought into reaction with a compound capable of reaction with the hydroxy group, for example an acid chloride. A concentrate, suitable for dilution with water before application, may be prepared by dispersing the finely divided isothiazolothione in water in the presence of a surface active agent and a suspending agent which imparts thixotropic properties to, and increases the viscosity of, the concentrate. Suitable suspending agents are bentonite, montmorillonite, beidellite, nontronite, hectorite, saponite, saucorite, cellulose derivatives and polyvinyl alcohol.
