Abstract

1,112,916. Window unit assemblies. F. ASPAAS. 10 Nov., 1965 [11 Nov., 1964; 17 Nov., 1964; 18 Nov., 1964], No. 47678/65. Heading E1J. In a multi-unit frame assembly in which the unit frames alternate with posts, the upper and lower parts of the unit frames and the upper and lower parts of the posts have mutual channel and insert connections with the upper and lower horizontal parts of the walls surrounding the window opening with the insert parts of the connections being engageable to a greater depth in the upper channels than the lower channels whereby the frames can be lifted with respect to the upper part of the wall and then dropped into position in the lower part of the wall, the sides of the unit frames and posts also having insert and channel connections so that the units or posts may be moved laterally into mutual engagement with each other. The posts may be of H section formed by opposing metal parts 11<SP>1</SP> connected together by a heat insulating element 11<SP>11</SP> and with a list in the form of elastomeric or tubular list 14 in one channel to allow the unit frame 1 to be moved transversely to the right for removing the unit from the post. The other list 13 may be of wood and the channel fitting over a wooden jamb 15 at the end of the assembly. Sealing glazing strips 12 surround the unit frame 1. In Fig. 6 the channel is in the unit frame 20 and the insert 24 on the post, and an elastomeric C-sectioned strip 27 is inserted into the joint between two adjacent frames to cover the post 25. The upper and lower channels may be formed in profiled sheet metal sill and head members.
