Abstract

1,112,107. Cleaning pipes. H. WILLIAMS & SON Ltd. 13 June, 1966 [11 June, 1965], No. 24755/65. Heading F2N. An apparatus for cleaning surfaces especially pipes comprises a rotatable tool 12 mounted on a flexible shaft 10 and driven by a motor 1. The shaft 10 is provided with a flexible casing 9 which co-operates with a sealing rubber nozzle 20 of a rigid sleeve 16 forming part of a vacuum apparatus. The sleeve 16 is connected by a suction hose 18 to an industrial type vacuum cleaner 19. A cup-like member 22 of resilient material is mounted on the forward end of the sleeve 16 and is adapted to contact a face of a boiler wall 23 which surrounds a boiler tube. The boiler tube is de-scaled by the tool 12 and the scale and dust is drawn away by the vacuum cleaner. Several types of tool are disclosed including brushes (Figs. 2, 3 and 4, not shown). The motor may be mounted on a trolley 2 which is provided with means 4, 5 for its suspension.
