Abstract
1,112,152. Consuming noxious gases. A. ARONSOHN. 8 July, 1965 [10 July, 1964; 4 Sept., 1964; 20 March, 1965], No. 28977/65 Heading F4B. [Also in Division F1] A combustion chamber 10 receives I.C. engine or furnace exhaust gases through a pipe 11, induced air through a pipe 12 and fansupplied air through pipe 13, the gas streams being mixed by a perforated turbulence-producing device 15 and burnt in the presence of catalyzing, porous, solid, ceramic material which forms the combustion chamber lining 20, the nose 15<SP>1</SP> of the device 15 and an annulus 17. When cold, an ignition element 14 is operated. The device 15 and annulus 17 are axially adjustable. Vanadium may be incorporated in the ceramic material. The operational period for ignition element 14 may be controlled by a time relay or a thermostat. The injector effect of member 17 may allow the fan associated with pipe 13 to be dispensed with. Engine crankcase fumes may also be supplied to the combustion chamber.
