Abstract
1,111,980. Toothed gearing. BETEILIGUNGSUND PATENTVERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 19 April, 1967, No. 17997/67. Heading F2Q. A gear mechanism, the transmission ratio of which varies continuously in accordance with a given empirical function, comprises an internally toothed wheel 2 having toothing 2a with a continuously varying angle of inclination, in accordance with the function, which is meshed by a spoke wheel 3 rotatably mounted on a carrier 6 having a helical rib 6b engaging a helical groove 9 in the wheel 2. The spoke wheel 3 drives a globoidal worm-wheel 5 arranged on an output shaft 4. The wheel 2 is driven by an input pinion 1 mounted in a fixed housing 8 and the carrier 6 is prevented from rotating by a bar 7. The carrier 6 therefore functions as a travelling nut on rotation of gear 2. Alternatively, the carrier 6 may be driven through a gear from the function wheel 2. An externally toothed function wheel may be used.
