Abstract

1,111,069. Centre-part gramophone record changer. HERMINE EBNER, [trading as PERPETUUM - EBNER FABRIK FUR FEINMECHANIK UND ELEKTROTECHNIK STEIDINGER & CO. KOMMGES. 19 Oct., 1966 L21 Oct., 1965], No. 46647/66. Heading G5R. A stacking arbor for an automatic record changer comprises a stationary guide member 1 within which is slidably mounted a first body 3 to which three record support arms 2 are pivotally mounted and a second body 16 connected through a coupling sleeve 18 to a driving rod 25, the body 16 having a stepped bore in which is located an extension 19 of the body 3 and a compression spring 21 which tends to push the bodies 3 and 16 apart, the bodies 3 and 16 being locked together after they have moved downwards to drop a record on to the turntable. To drop a record on to the turntable, the body 16 is pulled downwards and since the weight of the body 3 and the stack of records 6 exceeds the force of the spring 21, the body 3 follows the downwards motion of the body 16, the arms 2 engage the edges 42 of the slots 1a in the guide member 1 and are forced to retract inside member 1, the rod 10 secured to the body 3 disengages from the disc 11 and the latter, controlled by the compression spring 13, causes the flexible member 12a to move down a sloping surface of a member 8 secured to guide member 1, thus causing the block 12 to engage at least the second lowest record of the stack but.not the lowest one. The latter, being unsupported, falls on to the turntable 27. As depicted in Fig. 2 (not shown), three balls 20 each movable in a radial bore extending through the wall of body 16 prevent member 3 from rising upwards under the action of spring 21 by the balls engaging the conical surface 19a of the extension 19 on body 3. When the last record has been played, the flanged end of the flexible member 12a engages a flat surface of the member 8 and under these conditions the body 3 is forced upwards by the spring 21, the member 19 forces the balls 20 to the outside of their respective bores and into engagement with the sloping edge 22 of the stationary sleeve 23, thus preventing any further downwards movement of the arm 25, this limitation of the movement of the arm 25 being made to control a mechanism for stopping the turntable.
