Abstract

1,110,410. Wells etc.; cast in situ piles. I. FAILLA. 12 May, 1965 [13 May, 1965], No. 20082/65. Headings E1F and E1H. A subterranean structure is formed by sinking a tubular member 3 into the ground, and by discharging material forming part of the structure from apertures 2 in the lower end of the member as it is withdrawn from the ground. During the formation of a pile the soil within the member, or material (including reinforcing) replacing this soil, is impregnated with cement mix supplied through the apertures. The cement mix may be supplied so that it does not impregnate the central part of the soil within the member, and this part is removed so that a lined shaft is formed. The member may have an annular bit 12 and drilling fluid may be supplied through the apertures. A number of piles formed by the process may overlap one another to form a subterranean wall. The member may have a rectangular cross section. The material discharged from the apertures may be heated, and material may be supplied from the apertures during sinking the member.
