Abstract

1,109,618. Ceiling tiles. BRITISH GYPSUM Ltd. 8 Feb., 1967 [30 March, 1966], No. 14162/66. Heading E1W. A ceiling tile or panel comprises a rectangular body of plasterboard having square edges, the faces and edges of which are covered by a plastics, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, film, and a resiliently compressible strip or strips extending along two edges of the body and set back from the face of the tile or panel. The resilient strips are preferably impermeable by water vapour and may be formed by polyurethane foam bonded to the tile edges. The resilient strip or strips may be on adjacent or opposite edges, and in use the strips are in a state of compression filling all the joints between the tiles.
