Abstract

1,109,365. Glove boxes. VOKES Ltd. 10 May, 1965 [27 April, 1964; 24 June, 1964], Nos. 17289/64 and 26114/64. Heading B4Q. For use with a filter for removing radioactive dust from gases or for other hazardous filter operations, a device for removing a contaminated filter or for fitting a fresh filter 12 comprises a plastic bag 1 having glove projections 2 and an 0-ring for fitting into a groove in a spigot 8 of the filter housing 9, and a frame 5 to maintain the bag open when subjected to suction. The stub end 11 of a plastic bag used for removing a contaminated filter is first detached from the spigot 8 and the fresh filter 12 is passed through the spigot into housing 9 to rest on eccentrically mounted rods 13 which are rotated to position the filter. The plastic bag is welded across and severed, leaving a stub end on the spigot 8. The contaminated filter may be removed using an unsupported plastic bag having an 0-ring at its open end and a further 0-ring near its closed end, Figs. 2, 6-9 (not shown).
