Abstract
Novel compounds of the formulae <FORM:1108819/C2/1> and <FORM:1108819/C2/2> where R2 is an alkyl or aryl group, n is 1 or 2 and one of the R1 and R3 substituents is -OH group, the other substituent being a mono- or di-substituted amino group in which the substituent is an alkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic group, and their non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable addition salts, are obtained in a process which comprises contacting a compound of the formula <FORM:1108819/C2/3> wherein R2 and n are as defined above with a member selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary amines and thereafter forming a salt.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions which may act as central nervous depressants or stimulants and may be used as gastro-intestinal antisecretory agents, comprise compounds of the formulae: <FORM:1108819/A5-A6/1> and <FORM:1108819/A5-A6/2> wherein R2 is an alkyl or aryl group, n is 1 or 2 and one of the R1 and R3 substituents is an -OH group, the other substituent being a mono-or di-substituted amino group in which the substituent is an alkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic group or their pharmaceutically acceptable addition salts and other agents, e.g. spasmolytics such as the opium or belladonna alkaloids, parasympatholytics such as tridihexethyl iodide, anticholinergies such as propantheline bromide, antacids such as aluminium, calcium and magnesium hydroxide or magnesium trisilicate, and tranquilizers such as 1, 4-benzodiazepines and meprobamate. They may be administered orally, parenterally or as a suppository.
