Abstract
1,107,050. Centrifugal pumps. SULZER BROS. Ltd. Oct. 1, 1965 [Oct. 30, 1964], No. 41760/65. Heading F1C. A multi-stage centrifugal pump comprises interstage flow guide members 4 each consisting of a ring 4a and vanes 4b, each guide member being secured to the pump casing by welding or pinning some of the vanes to the casing. Each guide member may be divided into four parts along two planes parallel to one another and to the pump axis, for ease of insertion into and removal from the casing. The casing is split into parts 1, 2, 3 joined by bolted flanges or, as shown, by welding, each joint extending around a guide member 4. A diffuser element 12 bears against a thrust ring 16 located in an annular groove in the casing. Rings 17, 18 which bear against the thrust ring 16 can be moved apart from one another, as by screws or wedges, to press the diffuser elements 14, 11 of the preceding stage against a shoulder 19 or against a corresponding thrust ring associated with the preceding stage if the latter is not the first stage.
