Abstract
Novel N-oxides of oxyalkylated aliphatic mono-, di-, or poly-amines having a straight chain aliphatic hydrocarbon group of at least 8 carbon atoms directly attached to an aminic nitrogen atom and containing at least three oxyalkylene groups of the formula -CxH2xO-per molecule, wherein x is 2 or 3, at least one oxyalkylene group being directly bonded to each aminic nitrogen atom by a carbon-nitrogen bond, and oxyalkylene groups not bonded to an aminic nitrogen atom are bonded to other oxyalkylene groups to provide side chains on the aminic nitrogen atom containing mono-, di-, or poly-ether groups, are prepared by oxidation of the corresponding amines, e.g. with hydrogen peroxide. The number of oxyalkylene groups present in the molecule may range in practice from 3 to 20.ALSO:A detergent composition, particularly a shampoo, comprises sodium lauryl sulphate in admixture with N-oxides of oxyalkylated aliphatic mono-, di-, or poly-amines having a straight chain aliphatic hydrocarbon group of at least 8 carbon atoms directly attached to an amine nitrogen atom and containing at least three oxyalkylene groups of the formula -CxH2xO- per molecule, wherein x is 2 or 3, wherein at least one oxyalkylene group is attached to each aminic nitrogen atom by a carbon-nitrogen bond, and wherein oxyalkylene groups not bonded to an aminic nitrogen atom are bonded to other oxyalkylene groups to provide side-chains on the aminic nitrogen atom containing mono-, di or poly-ether groups.ALSO:Novel N-oxides of oxyalkylated aliphatic mono-, di-, or poly-amines having a straight chain aliphatic hydrocarbon group of at least 8 carbon atoms directly attached to an aminic nitrogen atom and containing at least three oxyalkylene groups of the formula -CxH2xO-per molecule, wherein x is 2 or 3, at least one oxyalkylene group is directly bonded to each aminic nitrogen atom by a carbon-nitrogen bond, and oxyalkylene groups not bonded to an aminic nitrogen atom are bonded to other oxyalkylene groups to provide side-chains on the aminic nitrogen atom containing mono-, di-, or poly-ether groups, are prepared by oxidation of the corresponding amines, e.g. with hydrogen peroxide.ALSO:Long chain fatty amines used as corrosion inhibitors in steam condensate lines are emulsified with N-oxides of oxylkylated aliphatic mono-, di-, or poly-amines having a straight chain aliphatic hydrocarbon group of at least 8 carbon atoms directly attached to an aminic nirogen atom and containing at least three oxyalkylene groups of the formula -Cx H2xO- per molecule, wherein x is 2 or 3, wherein at least one oxyalkylene group is attached to each aminic nitrogen atom by a carbon-nitrogen band, and wherein oxyalkylene groups not bonded to an aminic nitrogen atom containing mono-, di, or poly-ether groups.
