Abstract

555,129. Emulsions. BALDWIN, A. W., CUSA, N. W., WORTHINGTON, H., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 30, 1942, No. 1284. [Class 1 (i)] [Also in Group IV] Emulsifying agents are obtained by reacting a primary or secondary amine with one or more molecular proportions of 2:5-diketooxazojidine (see Group IV). having the formula : wherein R and R' may each be hydrogen or one of them, but not both, may be methtyl. In examples, various proportions of 2:5 - diketooxazolidine, 3-methyl-2:5-diketooxazolidine and 4-methyl-2:5-diketooxazolidine are condensed in the presence of benzene or choroform with octadecylamine, n-butylamine, N-methylcetylamine, cyclohexylamine, # -naphthylamine and piperidine. Some of the products are resinous.
