Abstract

1,102,555. Reciprocating motors. W. EBERSP€CHER, and H. EBERSPACHER, [trading as J. EBERSP€CHER]. 15 Feb., 1965 [14 March, 1964], No. 6508/65. Heading H2A. [Also in Division F1] An electromagnetically actuated pump for liquids comprises a piston 5 connected to an armature 7 by a piston-rod 6 which adjacent to the armature is of non-magnetic material, a magnet coil 4 co-axial with the pump cylinder, resilient piston biasing means 9 and inlet and outlet valves 10a and 2. The biasing spring 9 may be of non-magnetic rubber material. Resilient stops 20 and 26 are provided for the piston and armature. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), a valved inlet passage (50) in the cylinder wall communicates with the pumping chamber (34) via an annular groove (51) and an axial passage (52) in the piston. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the pumping chamber (34) communicates with the pump inlet via ducts (c) defined between the piston and cylinder and an annular groove (33) in the cylinder. The armature (7) acts as a valve to close the inlet when biased into engagement with the stop (26) by spring (9).
