Abstract
1,100,942. Valves. ELECTRICITE MECANIQUE ET APPLICATIONS. 24 Feb., 1965 [28 Feb., 1964], No. 7980/65. Heading F2V. A check-valve 1 controlling flow between a chamber 35 having an inlet 2 and a chamber 34 having an outlet 3 is adapted to be held open to permit flow in the opposite direction. To permit such latter flow, a solenoid (not shown), is energized to depress a plunger 27 to rotate a lever 26 pivotally mounted at 29, the lever carrying adjustable tappets 31, 32 which engage respectively a push-rod 22 engaging a check-valve 19, and a valve member 25 guided in a bore 17 and loaded by a spring 24. Rotation of the lever first causes valve member 25 to obstruct communication between passage 17 and chamber 18, and then opens check-valve 19 to allow fluid from chamber 34 to flow via passages 4, 12, 16 and 13 to a space 6 in a chamber 36 containing a piston 8 having a longer effective area than valve 1 and connected to valve 1 by a push-rod 9, thereby moving the piston to open the valve. When the solenoid is de-energized, the plunger retracts, check valve 19 closes, valve member 25 rises under the action of spring 24 and the main valve 1 closes under the action of spring 10, the fluid behind the piston being exhausted via passages 13, 17, 14, 38 and 39. The plunger 27 may alternatively be actuated mechanically or pneumatically.
