Abstract

1,195,583. Glazing bars. LIPS ALUMINIUM N.V. 4 July, 1967 [5 July, 1966], No. 30826/67. Heading E1R. An inverted-T glazing bar of extruded aluminium &c is formed on each side' of the web 1 with a channel to receive the marginal portion of the glass and such channel is produced by two parallel flanges 3, 4 or 3', 4', one of the flanges being the cross-bar 4, 4' of the inverted-T, and a strip of butyl cement 11, 11' or other cement which retains its plasticity, over a long period e.g. 8 years, being located in the channel, to form around' the edge portion of the glass 7, when inserted, a weather seal, which may be enhanced by ribs 8, 9, 10 and 8', 9', 10' on the flanges 3, 3'. Drainage channels 6, 6' are provided and supported on legs 5, 5' depending from the cross bar 4, 4'. The edges of the flanges lie in a plane 13, or 13'; these two planes intersecting above the bar. The channel for receiving the glass may be formed by two extruded sections, one received by the top of the web 1 and comprising the part 2 and flanges 3, 3' connected by a body part (Fig. 2) and secured by fasteners to the web or by snap, action of the body part and ,projections on the web (Fig. 3). In these last two modifications (Figs. 2 and 3) the sealing strip is insertedon assembly.
