Abstract

1,193,348. Electrophotography. RANK XEROX Ltd. 28 Sept., 1967 [3 Oct., 1966], No. 44124/67. Heading H1K. [Also in Division C7] A photo-conductive member comprises successive layers of vitreous selenium vitreous selenium-tellurium and vitreous arsenic-selenium alloy. The member may be built up by coevaporation of the components on to a brass, aluminium or steel sheet or web. Alternatively, the support may be paper or plastics coated with Al or Cu 2 I 2 or glass coated with Cr or SnO. In one embodiment the member may be selfsupporting. The selenium layer may contain up to 0À5% As and 1% halogen, whilst the preferred compositions for the alloy layers are up to 50 wt. per cent Te and up to 50 wt. per cent As with optionally 1 wt. per cent I 2 .
