Abstract

1,191,206. Spray carburetters. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE DE BREVETS ET D'ETUDES S.I.B.E. April 5, 1968 [May 30, 1967], No.16374/68. Heading F1B. In a carburetter having a plug shaped air throttle 2 mounted for vertical movement in the intake duct 1 in accordance with the air flow and a fuel control needle 36 movable with the throttle 2, the fuel flows into the intake duct through an outlet orifice 62 and over a concave annular zone 60 with a sharp downstream edge 61 so that the fuel flow is substantially perpendicular to the air flow at the edge 61. The fuel flows to the circular outlet orifice 62 from the metering orifice 38 through a passage 42 and/or other passages 42a and 42b, Fig. 3, (not shown) and an annular chamber 63 defined by grooves 63a and 63b formed in the main body 6 and the body portion containing the mixture throttle 5, respectively. The chamber 63 may be wholly provided by the groove 63a. The pressure in the chamber 63 is transmitted to the air throttle actuating diaphragm 17 through a passage 14 and a calibrated constriction 16. A baffle 21 guides the intake air flowing through the intake duct from the air filter 28. The float chamber 52 is connected to the air intake duct through an aperture 56. Air may be supplied to the fuel flowing from the metering orifice 38 through a passage 43 and calibrated restriction 44. Downward movement of the throttle 2 is limited by co-operating abutments 24 and 25 and abutment 24 may be adjustable.
