Abstract

1,191,049. Electromagnetic relays. SIEMENS A.G. 3 Dec., 1968 [4 Dec., 1967], No. 57303/68. Heading H1N. A polarized electromagnetic relay has its armature 1 " free from support " and rotatable about its centre of gravity with each of its ends 1a, 1b between a pair of fixed magnetic contacts which are polarized by permanent magnets 6, 7. The pairs 2, 3, and 4, 5 of fixed contacts are convergent and the magnets are arranged so that the bridging armature is held in engagement with either contacts 2, 5 or 3, 4 and is moved between these stable positions on appropriate energization of a coil 8 surrounding a protective tube 9. Additional permanent magnets, not shown, may bias the armature to one stable position.
