Abstract

1,189,920. Device for sealing bottles. L. FONTANA. 22 Nov., 1968 [28 Nov., 1967], No. 55447/68. Heading B8T. A device for sealing bottles comprises a stopper 1 having a crown 4, and a cap 5 provided with an annular zone 8 of weakened resistance and a lower portion 7 with screw threads. The body portion 2 of the stopper 1 may be made of cork, rubber or plastics while the crown portion may be made of the same material. The screw threads of the cap 5 in cooperation with the threads 9 on the neck are left-hand threads so that on turning the crown anticlockwise the lower portion 7 moves downwards and is torn away from the upper portion 6. An annular groove 12 in the bottle allows for the rim 13 of the cap to move downwards. Closing of the neck of the bottle is performed with the stopper in the usual manner.
