Abstract

1,189,474. Image pick-up tubes. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 30 June, 1967 [5 July, 1966], No. 30282/67. Heading H1D. An image dissector tube comprises a photocathode 12 producing an electron image which is scanned by a magnetic deflection coil 16 across a slit 18, the output of which is deflected by electrostatic deflection plates 22 across a second slit 32 leading to an electron multiplier 28. Due to the focusing field of coil 24 the field of the deflection plates 22 produces cycloidal movement of the electrons with a deflection parallel to the plates. The plates 20 and 26 may be at the same potential and spaced apart by an integral number of focusing loops. When the vertical scan is provided by movement of a vehicle carrying the tube the deflection coil 16 may be omitted.
