Abstract
1,186,313. Washing tanks. ALFA-LAVAL A.B. 26 March, 1968 [24 April, 1967], No. 14513/68. Heading A4F. A washing plant including means for supplying liquids of different compositions in predetermined sequence to an apparatus to be washed, e.g. a milk tank, comprises a vessel 2 for a first liquid, e.g. water, and at least two containers 15, 16 for other liquids, e.g. detergent and disinfectant, and conduits 17, 18 interconnecting the interiors of the vessel and each container, each conduit 17 or 18 extending from within the vessel 2 below a predetermined upper working liquid level A therein to a point in the container 15 or 16 below a predetermined upper working liquid level therein, the arrangement of conduits and containers being such that liquids in the respective containers are drawn into the vessel 2 and mixed with the first liquid at different times when liquid is withdrawn from the vessel 2 through an outlet 6. A pump 8 feeds liquid from the outlet 6 through a conduit 7 to a rotatable nozzle 10 within a milk tank 1 to be washed. An outlet 11 for the tank 1 is closable by a removable plug 12 to which is fixed a key 13 for starting the pump motor 9, to avoid starting the motor 9 when milk is present in the tank 1.
