Abstract
1460733 Treating waste water B G MORRIS 28 Dec 1973 [6 March 1973] 10777/73 Heading C1C [Also in Divisions B1 and B7] Apparatus for cleaning and recirculating liquid, e.g. water, in a vehicle washing machine 1 having a washing arch 2 and cleaning rollers 3, comprises a first conduit 7 for conducting dirty liquid from a collection sump 4, by a pump 5, mounted in the sump, to a reaction tank 6, the conduit 7 including venturi means 10 by which treating liquid chemicals may be supplied to the dirty liquid from containers 13, 14; a second conduit 20 for conducting treated water to filters 22, 23; and a pump 21 and conduit 33 for conducting the filtered water to a storage tank 32 for re use, via a conduit 38 and pump 39. The pumps 5 and 21 are connected in an electrical circuit controlled by float switches 46, 42 and 43, 45, in the sump, tank 32 and tank 6, respectively. Container 13 holds a coagulant blend consisting of a solution of aluminium sulphate and an aqueous solution of high molecular weight containing polymeric cations. The container 14 holds a combined controlled detergent foam reducer/bactericide being a blend of alkyl quaternary ammonium chlorides and a proprietary liquid defoamer in a solution of monoclinic terpene hydrocarbons.
