Apparatus for spraying continuous lengths of material with liquid and comprising a rotary atomizer having radial channels or orifices as described in Specification 1030686 is modified in that the rotary atomizer is in the form of a shallow dish having a peripheral wall perforated by at least 200 apertures per sq. in., the apertures having average diameters of 5 to 120 ,u. The peripheral wall 22<SP>1</SP> may be made from multiple layers of wire mesh sintered into a unitary product 71<SP>1</SP>.
