Abstract
1,185,967. Toy multi-storey car park. A. EINFALT and J. EINFALT [trading as GEBR. EINFALT BLECHSPIELWARENFABRIK]. 19 Aug., 1968 [9 Feb., 1968], No. 39609/68. Heading A6S. A toy multi-storey car park has a descending track along which toy vehicles 7, such as cars, may run and a lift in a shaft for raising the vehicles from the lower level end to the upper level end of the track between an entrance 6 into, and an exit 5 from, the lift shaft, a catch 60, 61 being provided for intercepting vehicles at the entrance, characterised in that the toy vehicles are raisable by the lift above the level of the exit and possibly also lowerable below the level of the entrance to enable the vehicles to be transferred from and into parking bays 10, 10<SP>1</SP> above the exit or below the entrance. The lift may be raised or lowered by means of a toothed wheel 28 cooperating with a motor driven coiled spring 12 about a rod 13, the motor 20 being either electric or clockwork. Suitable gearing is provided to allow the spring to be rotated in either direction. The toothed wheel 28 is pressed against plate 27 by a spring to form a friction clutch so that the lift may be stopped while the spring continues to rotate. Vehicles are transferred between the lift and the bays and vice versa by tilting the floors by means of manual cranks 45, 45<SP>1</SP> and 45<SP>2</SP>. The lift is stopped at exit 5 or bays 10 or 10<SP>1</SP> by a stop 53 on the lift engaging stops 54, 54<SP>1</SP> or 52 respectively, stops 54 and 54<SP>1</SP> being manually adjustable to engage or not engage. These stops are made of thin metal so that they may be used equally well with the lift ascending or descending. The vehicles have a stop which may be an extension of the rear axle which cooperates with stop 56 of the lift to prevent the vehicles falling off the rear of the lift. The catch at the entrance is manually operated and of a known type which allows one vehicle at a time to enter. A further catch 3 may be provided along the track, a captured vehicle being released by the next vehicle which is itself held. This catch may be in a building representing, for example, a washing bay.
