Abstract

1,185,129. Weighting warp thread. TEXMA MASCHINEN G.m.b.H. [trading as GEBR. SUCKER]. 29 Aug., 1968 [7 Sept., 1967], No. 41246/68. Heading D1L. In the weighting of a warp thread band F by continuous passage through a dressing solution 1 and squeeze rolls 4 with subsequent drying, the quantity of solution absorbed is decreased from an initially high value in two stages by (a) increasing the pressure of the rolls to its optimum value while the concentration is maintained constant at an elevated value and (b) decreasing the concentration while the pressure of the rolls is maintained constant at the optimum value, the end of each stage being determined by measurement of the quantity of solution absorbed. Each stage may be terminated manually or automatically. The solution is recirculated to the treatment bath via a reservoir la which is automatically topped up from a tank 9 when a lower level is reached, the number of revolutions of a roller 3 between topping up operations indicating the quantity of solution absorbed. A desired concentration is made up in tank 9 from concentrated solution in a tank 11 and diluent from a line 12. The concentrated solution is first passed in up to the level of a probe 20 and diluent is then passed in up to the level of a device 18. Variation in the height of the probe alters the concentration of the solution produced in tank 9.
