Abstract

1,184,780. Surf board. C. COLLARO. 4 Feb., 1969, No. 5982/69. Addition to 1,098,970 Headings B7A, B7S and B7V. A surf board has sufficient buoyancy to support a rider, a seat 13 pivotally mounted at 11 to turn about an upright axis (and detachable and buoyant to support the rider if he is thrown overboard), a rudder 6 (comprising a strip of flexible plastics material moulded at 7 into the after end of the keel 3) connected via arm 14 to the seat so that the rider can steer by twisting same, and a catch 17 at the underside of its bow for the attachment of a tow rope 23 having a mechanism controlled by a member 22 held by the rider and so arranged that when the member is pulled by the rider the catch holds the tow rope but on release of the member the catch releases the rope. The hull 1 is a hollow moulding of glass fibre reinforced plastics material formed with internal webs 2, central keel 3, and hollow bilge keels 4, and is filled with polyurethane.
