Abstract

1,180,080. Sets. ERICSSON TELEPHONES Ltd. 6 Sept., 1968 [13 Dec., 1967], No. 56717/67. Heading H4J. A handset is made from two snap-fitting plastics mouldings one of which 1 contains a transmitter, a receiver and a telephone cord while the other 2 acts as a cover plate. The latter, which is shown inverted, is further restrained by self-tapping screws 41 tightening of which ensures that the flanges 7 and lugs 15 of moulding 1 co-operate fully with a handle portion 3 and lugs 14 respectively of moulding 2. A handset cord enters the trapezoidal shaped mouthpiece 4 via a V-shaped slot 28 and is locked in position partly by being wrapped around pillars 29 and partly by a co-operating lug 36 on moulding 2. A microphone capsule is resiliently supported on notched buttresses 24 and on a spiral spring (not shown) located within guide structure 26, 27. The handle portion 3 is reinforced by internal walls 19, 20. In order to prevent ingress of termites and dust, the slots 37 are formed in the cover plate as two staggered parallel arrays (Fig. 2, not shown), the distance between the slot edges being 0À022 inches and the ends of the slots being shaped so as to prevent dust accumulating thereat.
