Abstract

1,178,237. Non-refillable bottles. JOHN HAIG & CO. Ltd. 5 April, 1967 [12 April, 1966], No. 15888/66. Heading B8D. A closure for a non-refillable bottle has a valve body section 1 with angled surface 6 for seating a corresponding surface of a movable valve member 7 having fins 9, the member 7 being weighted by a ball 10 guided to its downward position by fins 11 on a ball-retaining member 12. An upper section 2 of the valve body forms a seal with the rim 3 of the body section 1, and may be moulded in plastics with a breakable seal 5. An external screw-thread provides for a cap to be fitted. The valve body rim rests on a washer on a bottle mouth and may be retained by wrapping with metal foil. The valve body and members 11, 12 may be of polystyrene; the member 7 of low density polyethylene.
