Abstract

1,176,460. Inductive signalling; radio receivirig apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 5 Sept., 1968 [8 Sept., 1967], No. 42209/68. Headings H4L, H3Q and H4U. A pocket receiver for a paging system is provided with a transistor switch, operated by contacts on a spring clip for holding the receiver in a pocket, which automatically switches off the receiver when it is removed from the pocket. The battery supply terminal 3 of the receiver 1 is connected via the emitter-collector path of a transistor 6 to the battery 5, the terminal 4 being connected direct to the battery. The base of the transistor is connected to the positive terminal of the battery through a resistor 7 so that the transistor is conductive when a switch 8 is open. When the receiver is removed from the pocket switch 8 formed by the spring clip is closed and transistor 6 is made non-conducting. A spring-loaded insulating plate may be arranged on the housing of the receiver so that it can be moved between the clip contacts to put the receiver into operation, the plate being displaced automatically from the contacts when the clip is clamped on a pocket.
